Cursed to live forever with neither wife nor child, Ronan Sutherland has watched all he cherishes turn to dust—more than once. For hundreds of years, he’s been trapped behind the mists of Loch Ness, hoping to identify the one woman who is prophesied to break the spell. Now, at last, the fates have aligned, and he’s being sent into the future to fetch her. After a single glimpse, Ronan knows he’s been waiting all his life for this passionate woman.

Unlike her time-traveling sisters, Mairi Sinclair is perfectly content to remain in the present. As a hospital nurse in Edinburgh, she cherishes the opportunity to put her gift of healing powers to good use. But everything changes the morning a mysterious wolf darts in front of her car. Touching the wounded creature’s tawny coat, a tingle surges through her. Yet when she returns with aid, Mairi is shocked to find instead a man with broad shoulders and fire in his eyes—a man who tempts her to unleash the animal within.

My Tempting Highlander is book 3 in the Highland Heart Series by Maeve Greyson.  I was so excited to get my hands on this book.  The others in the series were fun, and I knew this one wouldn’t be any different.  My Tempting Highlander  is Ronan and Mairi’s story.  If you have been following the series you will know that Ronan was in book 2, and played a pretty big role in that story.  If you haven’t read book 2, I recommend you read that one first.

Ronan Sutherland has been cursed by a witch to live as half man, and beast for the rest of his life.  The only thing that can break the curse is a woman possessing three qualities:  lightness of step, a soothing touch, and a sight for the unseen.  Not only his his life at stake but his mother, Maither, and his best friend, Graham.  All three were also cursed by the same witch.  Ronan is on a mission to find this woman, and Granny Sinclair has the perfect woman in mind, her grand daughter, Mairi.  When granny says jump, most people ask ‘how high’.

Mairi Sinclair has been summoned by Granny Sinclair to jump back in time to the 13th century to follow her destiny.  Mairi is not ready.  She enjoys her life just the way it is, and doesn’t want to live in the past.  She is a nurse, and feels her healing talents are put to better use in the here and now, and not in the past.

When Mairi meets Ronan for the first time, she doesn’t know who he is, or that he is from the 13th century.  She is instantly drawn to him.  She feels that he is a little strange, but is drawn to him all the same.  Ronan tells Mairi only half truths when she ask him questions about his life, and why he is there.  Although I understood his feelings for now telling her the truth,  I still would have like to have smacked him a few times.  I felt the truth would have been better.  After all, Mairi comes from a family of time jumping women, so a man that can change into a wolf shouldn’t come as to big of a surprise.

The chemistry between Ronan and Mairi was HOT, and there are some pretty heavy scenes in this book.  I enjoyed this book as much as the two before it.  It was a fun, and easy read.   About half of the book takes place in the present time, and I would’ve liked to have spent more time in the past with the characters.  The plot moved along nicely, and I was not bore for one moment.  All of the Sinclair women are feisty, stand up for themselves women.  That is why I liked them so much.  My Tempting Highlander can be read as a stand alone book, but I think it is more enjoyable when you know who is who, and what happened before.

I like the cover of this book, but I feel that it doesn’t match Ronan’s character, and the way he is described in the big.  He is described as a big, tall man, and heavy muscled.  While the man on the front has muscle, he is also lean looking to me.  Covers of books are important to me, because I always see the characters while reading.

I recommend this book to anyone that likes time-travel, highlanders, and wolves, mixed with a little fantasy, and laugh out loud scenes.  I can’t wait for the next in the series!
