“So this is what a Pearl-approved guy looks like.” She shook her head once and cracked a smile. “She’s got good taste, I’ll give her that. You’re an odd mix of sexy and adorable. Don’t see that often.”

I was a little taken aback by the compliment, if that’s even what it was. She may have just been stating what she considered to be fact. She laughed at my surprise and held out her hand to me. “Nice to meet you. I’m Jordan Kramer.”
I’d been afraid of that. “You’re a girl.”

Jordan laughed. “That’s what it says on my birth certificate, but I’m really glad you were able to figure it out without needing to read it.”

Nope. I definitely didn’t need that.

‘If We Were A Movie’ is the first book I have read by Kelly Oram, and I LOVED it. This book is the 3rd book in The Power of the Matchmaker Series. There will book a book in the series released each month til the end of the year.

Nate is a triplet, and sharing a dorm room with his brothers. He is the more serious and studious of the three, and his brothers are more interested in parting and finding girls. They are always trying to get him to go out, instead of staying in and studying. They also dislike Sophie and are constantly pushing girls on him, in hopes that he will break up with Sophie. Everything comes to a head one night, when the brothers are trying to get Nate to go out with them instead of finishing a project that is due in the morning. He leaves the dorm room angry, and wanting to get away from them. Everything changes this night, and you will have to read the book to find out what happens.

The story takes place in New York city, and I thought of my niece the whole time I was reading the book. It is her dream to move to New York. Kelly Oram has written a book full of likable characters, with Nate, Jordan & Colin being my favorite. My least favorite was Nate’s girlfriend, Sophie, his high school sweetheart. She is controlling, snotty, and just an all around brat.

Pearl makes a brief appearance in this book, so you don’t see as much of her as you did in Almost Happenstance by Rachael Anderson. If We Were a Movie was an extremely FUN read, and I didn’t skip over any parts, because there was not one sentence that was boring. I will definitely be reading some of Kelly Oram’s other books. This was a clean, sweet read, with some kissing. Please don’t confuse sweet, and clean for a boring book. This book was anything but boring.

I loved all the references to movies in this book. Jordon was always comparing life’s happenings to a movie and it’s characters. If you love clean, sweet romance, with characters in their early 20’s, this book is for you! I was given a free eBook in exchange for my honest review.

He arched a brow and his smile became seductive. “Do I frighten ye?”

“No!” she lied. Like hell you do! You’re as gorgeous as sin standing there, and I want to rip your clothes from your body.

Pushing off from the wall, he stepped into the room and silently closed the door behind him, his eyes never leaving hers. His hair hung in soft waves past his shoulders, and her fingers itched to twine within them. Her body ached in places so deep—longing for even the slightest touch.

“Are ye unwell, my lady?”

The burr of his voice so low—so sexy, she could only stare at him until his words resonated in her mind. “No,” she replied softly, feeling the flames of desire heat not only her face, but also her entire body.

This time when he took another step closer, Deirdre didn’t back away. Now he stood so close she could feel the warmth of his breath across her face—a mix of wine and pure male.

She watched mesmerized as he reached for a lock of her hair, twining it around his finger. “So verra soft.”

Deirdre couldn’t breathe, as he let the curl unravel and cupped her face in his hands. “Ye confuse me. Ye torment me in my dreams,” he whispered against her cheek, sending a wave of pleasure down her spine.

Without thought, she groaned and leaned into him—his beard grazing her cheek. She no longer battled her mind for the man. “Kiss me, Angus.”

‘It will take a love more powerful than he can imagine to return his soul to the Knight he was destined to become.  Nonetheless, once he claims the ultimate prize, the question remains, will his love consume them both, or will he walk away, leaving only ashes of what could have been their destiny.’

I absolutely love the cover of this book.  Angus MacKay just may be my new book boyfriend.  The shield is stunning, and in his hands it is magical.  (sigh)

Dragon Knight’s Shield is the 4th book in the ‘Order of the Dragon Knight’s‘ series.  This is Angus MacKay’s story.  Angus is the eldest Dragon Knight brother, and he blames himself for his sisters death.  He feels he did not teach them control, which lead to their sisters death.  Therefore he doesn’t feel he deserves happiness or peace, so he hides refusing to ever go home.

This series keeps getting better, and better.  Mary Morgan has done it again, but better this time.  If that is possible.

Deirdre Flanagan can wield a sword and fight as good as any man.  She can protect herself, and is no wilting wallflower.  I loved Deidra for those qualities.  Deirdre is also a writer, and desperately needs some down time.  She gets the opportunity when her friends give her a vacation to Scotland for her birthday.  It is here where the story gets interesting.  While taking a walk in Scotland a mist suddenly appears, and Deirdre losing her sense of direction, walks right into Medieval Scotland and Angus MacKay.

With this little mishap Deirdre will set off on a journey that will either unite the Dragon Knights or break her heart.  If you enjoy historical romance, time travel, dragons, and magic this book will not disappoint you.  I was not bored for one second while reading this book.  The characters are strong, and the plot is packed with action.  There is a nice surprise thrown in here and there that will keep you wanting more!

I can’t wait to see what Mary Morgan has in store for the next book.

RWAB:  For those that may not be familiar with you or your books, could you please tell us a little bit about yourself, and how you came to write your first book?
MM:  I write Scottish Paranormal Time-travel Romance. The idea for the Dragon Knights started on my first trip to Scotland in 2000. I was sitting on a boulder in the Highlands (Newtonmore), surrounded by sheep, mists, and ghosts from the past. My mind started to weave the tale of this Order of Highlanders who were not your ordinary type of men.

RWAB:  What do you like most about Angus MacKay, and least?
MM: I love his sense of duty—his honor. Yet, I was frustrated at his fixation on controlling. He’s always trying to maintain control of everything and everyone.

RWAB:  If Deirdre Flanagan (Dragon Knight’s Shield) could give us any advice on men, what would she say?
MM: Find a man that will stand beside you—not in back and not in front. A partner in love and life.

RWAB:  What kind of research before starting a book (if any), and if so what kind?
MM: Ooo…I love doing research! It’s fascinating! With each of my stories, I had to do some historical research. I have many books on Scotland and Ireland—from maps, clans, history, cookbooks, and magazines. I start with those first, and then I’m pulling up information on the web from Scottish historical sites. Sometimes, I can gather information within two to three days. Other times, a week. It all depends on the story.

RWAB:  Where do you write?  Do you have a daily schedule, or do you just write when the mood strikes?
MM: I write in this wonderful corner in my bedroom. There is a huge window overlooking my garden and it’s peaceful. Yes, I have a daily schedule. I write six days a week and on Sundays, I edit what I’ve written. The mood to write is always there.

RWAB:  Do you have any plans to write another book in the Dragon Knight’s Series, or is this the last book?
MM: I’m finishing the last book in the series. It will wrap up everything nicely, and I believe my readers will be in for surprise when they find out the hero and heroine.

RWAB:  When you are not writing, what kind of books do you like to read?
MM: I love Science fiction fantasy, historical novels, and non-fiction history. It all depends on my mood, but I’ve been known to read several at the same time.

RWAB:  Is there a question you have you always wanted to be asked in an interview?  If so, what is the question, and what is the answer?
MM: There really haven’t been any questions that I’ve wanted someone to ask me. J

Just for Fun

RWAB:  If time travel were possible, and you could travel back in time, where would you go, what time period?  Why?
MM: Wow! So many centuries and places. However, the first century I would want to visit would be 7th century Scotland—Urquhart Castle. I have always wanted to see the foundations of this place. How did it start? From there, I would time-travel to 11th century Ireland to speak with Brian Boru, the last King of Ireland. He was one of the greatest kings of Ireland and led the Irish to the peak of their Golden Age—art, poetry, saints and scholars.

BLURB
Bound by centuries of bad blood, England’s two most powerful families maintain a veneer of civility…until the heir to the staggering Redmond fortune disappears, reviving rumors of an ancient curse: a Redmond and an Eversea are destined to fall disastrously in love once per generation.
An enduring legend
Rumor has it she broke Lyon Redmond’s heart. But while many a man has since wooed the dazzling Olivia Eversea, none has ever won her—which is why jaws drop when she suddenly accepts a viscount’s proposal. Now London waits with bated breath for the wedding of a decade…and wagers on the return of an heir.
An eternal love
It was instant and irresistible, forbidden…and unforgettable. And Lyon—now a driven, dangerous, infinitely devastating man—decides it’s time for a reckoning. As the day of her wedding races toward them, Lyon and Olivia will decide whether their love is a curse destined to tear their families part…or the stuff of which legends are made.
The first week of February …
She’s getting married on the second Saturday in May.
Nine words scrawled across a sheet of foolscap. He stared at them until they blurred into a single gray mass.
When he lifted his head, his ears were ringing and he was as dazed as if he’d literally been dragged backward through time.
For Lyon Redmond, there had always only ever been one “she.”
He was momentarily disoriented to find himself on the deck of a ship docked in Plymouth, not on the Sussex downs, waiting by the double elm tree. The one with the “O” carved into it.
A dozen pairs of eyes were on him, waiting patiently for the command that always came.
His crew was a carefully curated, casually lethal lot of men and one woman, the versatile Miss Delphinia Digby-Thorne, she of the many languages and surprisingly useful acting talents—she had once spilled ale all over his sister, Violet.
They had nothing in common apart from mysterious pedigrees, ambiguous morals, and unswerving loyalty. To him.
Unlike, alas, Olivia Eversea.
But then, every last one of them had prospered the moment they’d aligned their fortunes with him. He was cynical enough to know it was all of a piece, the loyalty and the prosperity. He didn’t care.
The bearer of this news, a man dressed in footman’s livery, took Lyon’s silence as dismissal and turned rather too optimistically to leave.
“Hold,” Lyon said sharply.
The swords of his men came up swiftly to bar the man’s way.
“I’m unarmed,” the footman said hurriedly, holding up his hands. “And alone. You have my word.”
Lyon smiled a smile that would have had many a man wetting his small clothes. It bore more resemblance to the curve of a cutlass. “While I’m certain your word is indeed priceless, you’ve naught to fear. I just cleaned my sword, so there will be no running through of anyone for at least another few hours.”
This elicited chuckles from his crew.
The footman gave a wobbly, uncertain smile.
Lyon knew a surge of impatience, which he recognized as shame. He was not in the habit of intimidating clearly unarmed and outnumbered men for the sport of it.
Then again, given how history often treated bearers of bad news, the man was probably fortunate he still drew breath.
“Your name, please.”
“Ramsey, sir.”
“You’re in no danger as long as I believe you are answering my questions truthfully, Ramsey.”
“Of course, sir.”
But judging from how the footman blanched, he didn’t miss the implicit threat.
“Who sent you, Ramsey?”
“Begging your pardon, but Lord Lavay said you would know when you read the message. I am in his employ. I’m a footman, sir.” He squared his shoulders and touched the silver braid on his coat, as if for luck. “And I won the coin toss.”
“I was a reward, then, was I, Ramsey?” Lyon drawled, to another scatter of chuckles. “Please describe Lord Lavay to me.”
Ramsey furrowed his brow. “Well … he’s a big gentleman. Perhaps as tall as you, sir. French. He often waves his hands when he talks, like so.” He began to demonstrate with a sweep of his own hands, then clearly thought better of it when all the swords aimed at him twitched a warning. “Took quite an injury in a fight not too long ago, but he’s fit now.”
Lyon studied the footman unblinkingly, searching for the faintest hint of perfidy in the flicker of an eyelash or the tensing of a muscle.
He knew all about that fight and that injury. Lyon and his crew had found Lavay bleeding to death on the Horsleydown Stairs in London.
Lyon was in fact the reason Lord Lavay still walked the earth.

About the Author
Julie Anne Long originally set out to be a rock star when she grew up, and she has the guitars and the questionable wardrobe stuffed in the back of her closet t prove it. When playing to indifferent crowds at midnight in dank clubs lost its, ahem, charm, she realized she could incorporate all of the best things about being in a band—namely, drama, passion and men with unruly hair—into novels, while at the same time indulging her love of history and research. So she made the move from guitar to keyboard (the computer variety) and embarked on a considerably more civilized, if not much more peaceful, career as a novelist.
Julie lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with a fat orange cat. (Little known fact: they issue you a cat the minute you become a romance novelist.)

“Are you afraid?” he asked.

“Of course not. I just don’t want to kiss you.”

“Not at all?”

“Not one little bit. Not an iota.”

“No curiosity about what it might be like to kiss the man Queen Victoria said was most certainly the worst rake in all of London?”

“No.”

“You’re fibbing, Minerva.”

“I’m not.”

He lowered his head, brushed his lips over her heated cheek. To his surprise, she didn’t move away. Slowly, he traced a path to her lips, breathing against them before placing his mouth on hers.

A kiss should be an appetizer. A kiss was a prelude, strings being tuned in an orchestra pit, dawn on an important day.

A kiss was not a feast. A kiss was not an explosion of the senses. But this one was.

He could smell her, that hint of earthiness mixed with her new perfume. Her skin was warm against his fingertips, her cheek heating as he inclined his head slightly to deepen the kiss.

Her mouth opened slightly on a gasp.

He wanted to banish her sorrow, the pain Neville had caused her. He wanted to change the tenor of her thoughts, give her something to replace her dread.

He could give Minerva passion. That’s the gift he could give her.

Home for the summer, Samantha Kinsey steps into her role as nanny for her two favorite little charges. Stick in the Mud Meets Spontaneity is the third book in the ‘Meet Your Match Series’.  The first book was Prejudice Meets Pride, and the second book is Rough Around the Edges Meets Refined.  I love it when an author brings characters from other books in a series to a new book.  In this case all the characters I enjoyed from previous books are in this one.  Stick in the Mud Meets Spontaneity is Samantha’s (Sam) Kinsey’s story.

Sam is fresh out of college, and coming home to spend the Summer in Colorado.  She has 2 months before she has to leave in August to start her new job in Manhattan, New York.  She is looking forward to spending some quality time with her family, friends, Kajsa & Adi (they are like the little sister’s she never had).  Sam soon finds out that her Summer may not go as planned with Kajsa & Adi.  It seems the little girls she once babysat are growing up, and are busy.

She soon finds herself at a horse ranch, in which she agreed to take Kajsa each morning until her dad and stepmom get back from a trip with Adi.  That first morning dropping Kajsa off at the ranch, Sam sits in her car and writes a ‘Bucket List’.  One of the things on her bucket list is to have a fling with a cowboy.  Just as she is finishing up her bucket list, up drives Colton McCoy in his truck, pulling a horse trailer with wild stallion in the back.

Sam soon finds out that Colton McCoy doesn’t have flings.  He is a gentleman in every sense of the word.  He is also very handsome, has a way with horses, and is a sweet heart.  Colton loves working on the ranch, and someday plans to take over the running of it when the time comes.  He likes things just the way they are, and sees no reason to change, until he meets Samantha.

I have enjoyed reading the ‘Meet Your Match’ series.  If I had to pick a favorite out of the three books, it would have to be this one.  I loved Samantha’s sunny disposition, and positive outlook on life.  She is fun and creative, where as Colton is sweet, and set in his ways.  He needs a little nudge from Samantha to get him to try new things, and vice, versa.

Theses two have a few things to learn about life and love.  It was fun seeing them get to know each other, and working through a few issues that arise.  I loved each of their families in this book.  They supported each of them, without being overbearing.  Kajsa plays a large part in this book also, as well as her love for horses.

I hope Rachael Anderson will continue this series, because I would love to read more!  I laughed out loud in parts of this book, and teared up in a few places also.  I am a sucker for romance, children, and animals.  If you enjoy clean romance, with large, lovable, extended families, then you will love this book. Rachael proves that a story doesn’t have to have sex, and cursing in it to be a wonderful read!
